Awareness through Slack
Overview
XFA can deliver awareness notifications directly to your team in Slack. Connect your workspace once, and end users receive messages as Slack direct messages instead of (or in addition to) email. Users get notified where they already work, which reduces friction and shortens the time between a risk being detected and being resolved.
Notifications delivered via Slack
When enabled, users receive Slack DMs for:
- Device risk alerts: when a risk is detected on an onboarded device.
- New-device enrollment invitations: when XFA discovers a new device that still needs to be verified.
- Sign-in verification requests: when a device needs to be verified during sign-in.
Connecting Slack
To connect your workspace, go to the Integrations page in your Dashboard, find the Slack card, and click "Connect Slack". You will be taken through the standard Slack OAuth flow to authorize XFA for your workspace. You can disconnect again from the same card at any time.
Choosing what gets sent through Slack
Once Slack is connected, notification toggles appear alongside the existing email controls on the Awareness page. For each awareness feature you can independently decide whether messages go out over email, Slack, or both:
- Send auto-invites through Slack: deliver onboarding invitations as Slack DMs.
- Send reminders through Slack: deliver device verification reminders as Slack DMs.
- Notify users through Slack: deliver device risk alerts as Slack DMs.
Each Slack-enabled section also offers a "Send a test message on Slack" button so you can preview the exact message your users will receive.
Slack delivery follows the same Awareness Scoping rules as email, so the same set of devices and users is targeted regardless of the channel.
